Beginning Guitar Class – Shane Mitchell (Teacher)
Mondays at 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and Thursdays (TBA) Shane Mitchell is the Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts at Oakwood Baptist Church and leads the Choir and instrumental team on Sundays. Shane plays leads worship each Sunday Morning at Oakwood and plays guitar with our worship team. Shane’s Beginning Guitar lessons are set in a class setting with a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 8 students per class. The cost is $60.00 per month per student with an annual registration fee of $25.00. Students are required to have an acoustic guitar (steel string or classical). Each student will also be required to purchase lesson books for both guitar ($12) and music theory ($15). Each one hour weekly session includes 45 minutes of guitar instruction and 15 minutes of music theory.
Piano Instruction - Stephanie Roberts (Teacher)
Lesson times to be worked out on an individual basis. Stephane is a student at UTC pursuing a degree in Musical Education. Stephanie teaches beginners and intermediate piano students. The cost is $80.00 per month per student with an annual registration fee of $25.00. Each student will also be required to purchase lesson books at the teacher's discretion. Each one hour weekly session includes 45 minutes of piano instruction and 15 minutes of music theory.
Piano Instruction – Roy Smith (Teacher)
Lesson times to be worked out on an individual basis. Roy is a graduate of Bryan College with a degree in Musical Education. Roy is also on staff at Oakwood as our Director of Instrumental Worship. Roy teaches beginners through professional piano students. The cost is $80.00 per month per student with an annual registration fee of $25.00. Each student will also be required to purchase lesson books for both piano ($12) and music theory ($15). Each one hour weekly session includes 45 minutes of piano instruction and 15 minutes of music theory.
Private Vocal Instruction – Sarah Bolton (Instructor)
Sarah Bolton is a “soon to be” graduate of UTC in sacred music with a vocal emphasis. Sarah will also be serving on part-time staff at Oakwood as our Music Associate and Director of Children’s Music. Sarah is an accomplished vocalist and a wonderful teacher. Lessons are $80.00 per month for (4) one hour lessons. Sarah will teach 45 minutes of vocal instruction and 15 minutes of music theory each week. There is an annual registration fee of $25 per student and each student will be required to purchase a theory workbook ($15) as well as vocal repertoire books (at teacher’s discretion). Times for each lesson are to be arranged on an individual basis with Sarah.
Private Percussion Instruction - Matthew Randall
Lesson times to be worked out on an individual basis. Matthew is a student at UTC and teaches aspiring drummers and percussionists of all ages and levels of experience. The cost is $80.00 per month per student with an annual registration fee of $25.00. Each student will also be required to purchase lesson books at the teacher's discretion. Each one hour weekly session includes 45 minutes of piano instruction and 15 minutes of music theory.
Worship Through Dance
Oakwood Baptist and the Chattanooga Institute for Worship Arts is proud to introduce Worship Through Dance. Worship Through Dance is a new creative worship arts class that we will soon be hosting on campus. 4 Classes will begin in November. Worship Through Dance uses classical ballet and interpretive movement in a worshipful demonstration of this art form. Every posture of worship says something of both the worshipper and the One being gloried in. When David danced before the lord it was a glorious interpretation of his grateful heart and pointed, in adoration, to the source of his joy.
